Tank Pump-outs

The standard hose used by Pence Septic Systems when doing a pump-out on a septic tank

Pumping your septic tank on a regular basis is the best thing you can do for your septic system. Over time, the sludge will build up in the bottom of the septic tank. If the sludge is allowed to accumulate it will eventually flow into the leaching bed and rapidly clog the distribution pipes. Once the pipes become clogged, the wastewater will either seep to the surface of the ground, or worse yet, back up into your house. Not only can a clogged septic system be hazardous to the environment and to your family’s health, it also represents a very expensive septic repair bill.

Septic tanks require pump-outs when the solids that accumulate in the tank begin to reach the tank’s storage capacity. The tank should be pumped when total solid accumulation is between 30% and 50% of the total capacity. We recommend pumping your septic tank every 3-5 years.

What Will The Pence Septic Systems Tank Pumper Do?
  • Before Pumping: Note the liquid level of the tank in relation to the tank’s outlet pipe. A liquid level below the outlet pipe usually indicates a tank leak. A liquid level above the outlet pipe can indicate a problem with the pipe to the drainfield or the drainfield itself.
  • Pumping: Pump the tank from the end lids, risers or porthole. They will watch for backflow from the tank outlet pipe. A significant backflow indicates a possible drainfield failure. A small amount of backflow can indicate a sag in the pipe to the drainfield. Pump the tank thoroughly & clean the filter.
  • After Pumping: Check the empty tank and note any signs of structural damage such as an open weep hole, leaking midseam, damaged baffles, or cracks. Leave site in a sanitary condition.

Aerobic Service Contracts

Pence Septic offers Inspection Service Contracts

Pence offers Inspection Service Contracts for AquaKlear, Delta EcoPod, Delta Enviro-Aire, Delta Whitewater, FujiClean, Hoot, Multi-Flo, & Nayadic systems.

The contract covers two inspections per year. We look over the system, check the levels of the tank, and test all of the alarms. Some systems require additional inspections as noted in their contract. All contracts are sent to Environmental Health Services as well as all inspections conducted.

Please note:
Service Contracts are NON Transferable and NON Refundable.

The service agreement does not cover the cost of service calls, labor or materials which are required for: replacement of out-of-warranty components, laboratory or test work, pumping of unit or pre-tank, repair and/or replacement of any electrical or mechanical component, “misuse or abuse” of the system, service due to: failure to maintain electrical power to the system, sewage flows exceeding the hydraulic/organic design capabilities, disposal of non-biodegradable materials, chemicals, solvents, grease, oil, paint, etc., or any usage contrary to the requirements listed in the owner’s manual or as advised by the authorized service representative.

The homeowner is required to maintain an Operating Permit with Environmental Health Services. This is not included in the cost of the Inspection Service Contract with Pence Septic Services. The homeowner will need to contact Environmental Health directly to obtain/maintain the Operating Permit.
